Ethiopia's Water Crisis:
1. Over half of the population does not have access to clean water.
2. Over 67 million people don't have access to adequate sanitation in Ethiopia, almost four-fifths of the population.
3. Around 33,000 children die every year from diarrhea caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation in Ethiopia.
Clean Water for Ethiopia
There are about 783 million people in the world who do not have access to clean water. Almost 2.5 billion people do not have access to adequate sanitation. This needs to be changed, someway or somehow. As I was researching on what area to focus on, I noticed that Ethiopia has 49 million people that lack clean water. They are the second leading country in this water crisis, and that motivated me to try to help them. After I decided on Ethiopia, I thought of the struggles that they had to go through to get water in general. They had to walk up to six hours just to carry 30-40 pound containers of water back to their home, most of that water not being clean. I had thought about the idea of digging more wells to get them more water, but that just seemed to be a lot of time and money. That brought me to the idea of water filtration and purification. What if we could filter the water that they already have?
